Use less electricity

Use less electricity

Turning down the air conditioning and heating, switching to renewable energy sources or turning off lights, TVs and computers are great ways to use less electricity and fight climate change. Using programmable thermostats, proper insulation while also sealing leaks and drafts will improve the efficiency of your heating and cooling units. Changing regular (incandescent) light bulbs to compact fluorescent or LED lights will also help with energy savings.

By using less electricity, you also reduce your personal emissions and help fight global warming all at the same time.

An Introduction to Renewable Electricity Programs in the U.S.

Arguably the most effective way to reduce the severity of climate change is to minimize the use of fossil fuels in the generation of electricity and increase our accessibility and use of renewable electricity. The increase in renewable electricity efficiency in the last decade has made this a real possibility. Many countries around the world have taken advantage of the possibilities green electricity offers and have successfully created and implemented renewable electricity programs to stimulate the growth of the industry.

I see the light

One of our key goals in efforts to create a sustainable environment is to reduce our impact on the planet. One of the most often encountered examples of how to save the environment answer of “changing your light bulbs”. The question for many of us becomes (and you can use your best childish voice to say this) do I HAVE to? Well, as there is no gun to your head (although the metaphorical one is aimed at the planet) so the answer is actually no. But we do want you to be aware of just how much we reduce our energy impact when you do switch light bulbs, simple solutions can go a long way.

Make the switch to LED lighting

On October 7, 2014 the Nobel Prize in physics was awarded to three Japanese men for their work on LED lighting. Red LED lights have been common in electronics and appliances for sometime already, including the colors green and yellow. The giving of this award is due to the discovery of how to make blue LED lights. Blue LED light was very important because the discovery quickly led to the making of white light LED bulbs. “Akasaki, Amano and Nakamura coaxed gallium nitride to glow bright blue.
